Extremely fine quality antique mid-19th (c.1860) century rosewood "piano-top" Davenport desk.
This exceptional example of a davenport is made from quality rosewood, mahogany, sandalwood, ebony, amboyna and burr pollard oak.
The top has a disguised lift up bank of drawers and pigeon holes, the drawers are sandalwood lined and have amboyna fronts with turned ebony knobs.
The piano top when opened has a slide forward leather covered writing board, eight sandalwood lined and burr pollard oak veneered drawers with turned ebony knob handles.
The centre of the interior has two pigeon holes with shaped front drawers above.
To the right hand side of the davenport is a rotating pen and inkwell drawer above four mahogany lined drawers that have rosewood fronts and ebony knob handles.
To the left hand side of the davenport there are four faux drawers with rosewood fronts and ebony knob handles.
The davenport has slender cabriole legs to either side of the kneehole to the front which rest on a plinth base that is raised on bun feet with casters.
The davenport is in exceptional original condition, all of the drawers are immaculate in almost un-used condition and there are keys for the front and drawers.
The davenport has extra casters underneath that are temporary and can be removed if desired.
