About Lovatt Antiques

About Lovatt Antiques.

Started in the late 1960’s by my father Ivor Lovatt, Lovatt Antiques is a long-established antiques business based in Glasgow and dealing throughout Scotland.

As far back as I can remember, from my early years watching Arthur Negus on Going for a Song and the Antiques Roadshow (with the obligatory valuation competitions with family and friends) I have been interested in antiques.

I have been dealing in Antiques and fine quality items since leaving school in the late 1970’s and I travel throughout Scotland in my quest to find good quality antique and reproduction items.

Antiques Purchased.
I am interested in buying Quality Antique, Victorian and Reproduction items. I am always looking for interesting and unusual pieces. Whether you are selling a single item or complete estate contents please telephone me.

It may be that you have single items to value or estate contents to sell on behalf of a relative.

You might be thinking of changing an interior. Maybe you’re moving home or you want to use the space in an old cupboard or your loft.

Please telephone the office 0141 644 2020 or my mobile number on 07976 417101 for free advice. You can also email me on lovattantiques@btconnect.com

I offer a free, professional and confidential service.

Whether you wish to sell a piece of antique furniture,  old jewellery or silverware, artworks, bric-a-brac or a complete home contents I will be pleased to provide a written offer.

Please telephone the office 0141 644 2020 or my mobile number on 07976 417101 for free advice. You can also email me on lovattantiques@btconnect.com

After initial contact I will make an appointment to call to your home and view your item(s). You may have a Single Item to value. You may have a Complete House Contents for sale. I will provide you with a written offer. If you prefer, smaller pieces can be brought to the warehouse (by appointment only). You are free to accept or decline any part of my offer. There is no obligation on your part to sell to me. My valuation is free.

Should you decide to accept any offer(s) we will arrange a mutually convenient collection day. Payment is made upon collection.

The price I offer is the price I pay.

Unlike auction houses I will provide you with a firm offer to purchase. Auction houses can only estimate a value which MAY be achieved in their saleroom. An auction house valuation is not a guaranteed amount. Should your item sell the auctioneer will charge you, the seller from 15% to 25% vendor’s commission. (Plus vat) The auction house will also charge the successful buyer from 20% to 25% buyer’s premium plus vat.

Your item will lose up to 50% (plus vat) of its value in auction house and associated charges. This does not include any additional charges for advertising, cataloguing & photography, insurance or carriage.
